New Community Development
Corporation began as an outgrowth of a program of the United Methodist
Community Center. After successfully working on the development of
Anathoth Town homes in North Omaha, New Community Development Corporation was
founded in 1992 to focus on community development with a primary emphasis on
providing new housing. Currently, NCDC is a 501c3 organization with no
formal affiliation with a church.
Some of the NCDC
accomplishments since its inception:
·
Over
$35,000,000 infused into the community through housing and business endeavors;
·
300+
units of affordable, safe housing units (including multi and single family
homes);
·
Over
1100 potential entrepreneurs fitted with the tools for successful start-up;
·
Over
80 micro loans disbursed to business owners.
· In 2002 NCDC began the development of Miami Heights, the
first market-rate housing development in North Omaha in forty years.
Our community development
objectives are oriented toward:
·
A
commitment to building strong, vibrant neighborhoods and communities;
·
A
commitment to rental units with off-street parking or garages with
considerable, well-cared-for "green" space, and single-family units for
individual ownership with similar amenities;
·
The
establishment of special purpose developments, for example, housing for seniors
and residents with a hearing impairment;
·
Small
business development with a variety of facets;
·
Collaboration
with other organizations to meet community needs.
